Trustees' Week: Sue Mountstevens

At Moon Executive Search, our Charity Practice, led by Sandy Hinks, works closely with non-profit, charity and voluntary sector clients to place candidates in a range of roles from Chair and Trustee to senior management and board roles such as CEO, COO, Finance Director, Marketing, Operations and Policy.

7 - 11 November is Trustees’ Week in the UK – giving us the opportunity to celebrate the immense contributions of the nearly 1 million Trustees across the UK.

While Trustees usually come from successful, celebrated careers in other fields, the work they do for charity often goes on in the background, remaining silent and unsung.

Well, this is a week for busting the silence and shouting about the brilliance of Trustees! So, we’re giving the floor to some Trustees recently placed by Moon Executive Search, to share their experiences…

Our first of three Trustees this week is Sue Mountstevens.

“There is never enough time, but if you want to make a difference then you find the time. Becoming a Trustee is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding roles I have ever done. Having emerged from one crisis, little was I prepared to go straight into a cost of living crisis. I meet so many people who are frightened of this winter. And I know there are amazing people who want to give to those who are desperate. At Quartet, we work with generous philanthropists who give their money through Quartet to those with the greatest needs.

Being a Trustee is about wanting to live in a community where we can all thrive and be confident. All charities need Trustees, charities need to operate in an open, honest and transparent way. It’s your job to ensure they do. If anything like me, you will learn more about your communities, and probably more about yourself”.
