Space Youth Services inspires, supports, educates and welcomes young people. They deliver professional youth work, community projects and other services to ensure young people have the best opportunities to succeed. The organisation helps young people navigate their transition into adulthood safely, fostering healthy relationships and equipping them with the skills needed to thrive with purpose.

The charity operates eight youth and community centres across Devon, alongside an alternative education school. Last year, over 3000 young people used their services, with thousands more helped by their support for other youth organisations. Space is committed to developing new service lines and enhancing the support available to young people and communities. They’re seeking trustees who can help develop youth services across Devon and beyond.

The board of trustees determines the charity’s strategic direction, sets policy, and evaluates performance. They ensure that resources are deployed effectively in pursuit of charitable objectives while safeguarding Space’s reputation, values, and financial sustainability. Trustees maintain the highest possible standard of governance, enabling the organisation to meet the evolving needs of Devon’s young people.

Space are looking for skilled communicators who are passionate about helping young people reach their potential. You will be able to think strategically and creatively and demonstrate good independent judgement. The successful candidates will have experience supporting a developing organisation that consistently evaluates and improves its services. You’ll have an understanding of the issues and opportunities facing young people and be committed to ED&I best practices and challenging discrimination.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of youth services, both in Devon and further afield.
