Home-Start Bristol and South Gloucestershire seeks Treasurer
Key information:
Time commitment: Approximately 8 hours per month in addition to 6-8 hours/month general trustee work.
Unremunerated: Travel and other agreed expenses may be claimed.
Home-Start is a national charity that helps families with young children through challenging times. The organisation consists of 180 local, independent community networks that support over 43,000 families.

Home-Start Bristol & South Gloucestershire (HSBSG) has been successfully supporting families in Bristol and South Gloucestershire for over 30 years. They believe that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them achieve their full potential. The charity makes a lasting and positive impact on the development of children and the well-being of the family. They help parents build resilience and increase their confidence, encouraging them to engage with community activities and services while reducing stress within the family.
HSBSG is seeking a Treasurer who can help them reach more families and improve the services provided. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting parents and providing children with the best start in life.
As Treasurer, you will maintain an overview of the charity’s financial affairs, ensuring records and procedures are maintained. You’ll ensure the organisation remains economically viable and that staff are paid on time. The Treasurer will also have general trustee responsibilities, making sure HSBSG complies with all relevant legal requirements, including its governing document, charity law, and company law. This includes:
● Using all resources solely for the organisation's stated objectives.
● Efficiently and effectively managing HSBSG's finances to maintain long-term stability.
● Protecting and managing all assets and properly investing funds.
● Adhering to all financial management standards and quality assurance criteria.
First-time trustees will be considered for this role.
