●      Salary: £95,000 per annum

●      Job Ref: JO2791

●      Closing Date: Midnight, Friday 11th September 2026

For over 18 years, our client, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), has earned a reputation for clinical excellence, innovation, and compassion. Every day, their highly skilled clinical teams bring hospital-level expertise to patients at the scene of medical emergencies, often in circumstances where minutes make the difference between life and death.

They are now seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next strategic chapter. You will inherit an ambitious Charity, with a dedicated team and a powerful sense of purpose. You will inspire, bring people together around a shared vision, and ensure GWAAC continues to deliver the highest standards of patient care, operational effectiveness and organisational performance.

Your key responsibilities as Chief Executive will be to lead, coach and support the Charity with a clear sense of strategic insight, commercial acumen and compassion. You will act as a high-profile ambassador for GWAAC with oversight of all fundraising activities, building and nurturing relationships with major donors, corporate partners, trusts, foundations and key stakeholders. You will provide operational, clinical and aviation safety oversight and work closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees to maintain high standards of charity governance.

Whether your background is in the charity sector, healthcare, the public sector or a complex commercial environment, what matters most is your ability to lead with integrity, inspire with confidence and deliver meaningful impact.

For this role we are keen to hear from candidates with:

  • Proven experience of leading complex organisations or multi-disciplinary teams at CEO or senior Director level.

  • Experience of managing multi-million-pound  budgets, financial strategy and commercial or fundraising income generation.

  • A track record of building effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, regulators, media and public bodies.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a charity that quite literally changes and saves lives every single day. The new Chief Executive will progress strategic  milestones for GWAAC, achieve planned income targets, ensure operational and safety compliance, drive staff engagement and continue to build a positive media coverage to ensure public trust in its operations.
