Moon Executive Search is delighted to be the retained search partner to The European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), as we bring their Head of Strategic Partnerships role to the market.
ESE has been the voice for endocrinology now for 2o years, running the annual European Congress of Endocrinology and owning the European Journal of Endocrinology (EJE), a respected clinical and translational peer-reviewed publication. Partnerships are central to how ESE works, collaborating closely with national endocrine societies, specialist societies, patient organisations and industry partners to address shared challenges and improve outcomes for people with endocrine conditions.
This strong partnership approach provides the foundation for ESE’s impact, enabling the Society to champion endocrine science and health across Europe. As such, this Head of Strategic Partnerships role will develop and lead an effective approach to policy and advocacy in the European political environment, and support the financial growth and sustainability of ESE, particularly through the development of new business opportunities across ESE’s partners.
This is an exciting role which is a key part of the Leadership Team and will be crucial as ESE aims to unite and represent the European endocrine community and be acknowledged as the reference point for endocrine health and science.
Amongst the key responsibilities, the Head of Strategic Partnerships will:
Support and develop the ESE partnerships across all aspects of European and international endocrinology, where these can support the overall development and impact of ESE.
Anchor and expand ESE’s policy and advocacy objectives with the European Institutions, as well as organisations active in the Brussels’ EU policy environment.
Directly engage with partners to represent the voice of ESE.
Grow corporate membership by supporting the Business Development Manager on the ongoing assessment of trends, opportunities and issues arising in the pharmaceutical industry that can impact on ESE.
Grow industry engagement and income through the development and implementation of new business development tactics.
Fully manage the activities of the Public Affairs committee
Provide oversight of the management of the Industry Partnerships Board, Patient Advocacy Group Board (managed operationally by the Business Development Manager) and the Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals Working Group (managed operationally by the EU Liaison Officer).
Develop, as part of ESE Leadership Team activities, budgets for activities as required and support ESE’s long-term financial stability by delivering on the annual financial revenue targets and close management of the expense budget.
For this appointment, we are seeking a proven senior leader within in the medical environment with a track record of successful achievements in leading organisational strategy and building engagement with external stakeholders. You should have proven experience of successfully working within the European policy environment, possess strong analytical skills (financial, planning, operational), demonstrable commercial acumen and excellent interpersonal and networking skills. Fluent in English and good knowledge of a second major European language an advantage.
Travel is required as part of this role; willingness and ability to travel mainly, but not exclusively, in Europe, and occasional travel at weekends or bank holidays.
