The brief
Bath Cats & Dogs Home, part of the RSPCA network, was seeking a new Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees. The charity has ambitious growth plans to expand its geographical reach. To support this expansion securing an outstanding Trustee who can lead financial oversight with governance expertise was a priority.
Moon Charity Practice was appointed to manage the search, combining a targeted headhunting campaign with a national advertising strategy.
One of the challenges of this search was reaching candidates with the requisite financial expertise and qualifications who were also prepared to commit the time required for such a vital role in a voluntary capacity.
The outcome
Following a successful search, Paul Flanagan was appointed as Treasurer.
Paul brought previous Treasurer experience through his role with Labour Business, where he was responsible for overseeing finances in a regulated environment. His background in FCA regulated business leadership demonstrated strong financial discipline, effective risk management and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
Paul officially joined the Board on 7th September 2026.
