Southern Brooks is a leading community anchor charity for South Gloucestershire, working since 1988 to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and create a fairer place where everyone can thrive. Through high-quality community development and health and wellbeing services, they support people to achieve what matters to them and build strong, inclusive communities.

They are now seeking to appoint a new Chair of Trustees to lead the Board through the next phase of their three-year strategy. This voluntary role requires a commitment of around 12–14 hours per month, including Board meetings, subcommittee involvement, preparation time, and occasional representation at external events. The Chair will provide clear, values-led leadership to a committed and friendly Board, ensuring strong governance, strategic focus, and effective support and challenge to the Chief Executive. The role includes shaping Board agendas, stewarding good governance, representing the charity externally, and helping maintain strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, and the communities Southern Brooks serves.

For this role, we are keen to hear from individuals with proven leadership experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex strategic issues with sound judgement and diplomacy. Experience of chairing, governance, or non-executive roles would be advantageous, alongside a commitment to the values of Southern Brooks and to championing equality, diversity, and inclusive community development.

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a respected, values-driven charity making a tangible difference across South Gloucestershire. You will join a collaborative Board, support a dedicated CEO and team, and help shape the future of a thriving community organisation rooted in empowerment, wellbeing, and social connection.
