Off the Record seeks Head of People

Off The Record (OTR) is a mental health social movement - supporting young people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. Founded in 1965, OTR was one of the first young people’s information, advice and counselling services in the country. The Charity provides essential youth services and specialised mental health support for people aged 11 to 25. They also promote mental health rights and advocate for the social position of young people.

OTR has a firm set of beliefs that underpin their work as a mental health movement. They ensure young people have a voice in what will best support their mental health and well-being. This is informed by their strengths, interests and personal circumstances, then delivered through a skilled and diverse team of staff and volunteers.

The organisation is in an exciting period, currently helping over 20,000 young people with mental health information and support. They’re seeking a Head of People to shape the future of OTR Bristol and equip them for sustainable success.

The Head of People will work with the senior leadership team to develop the strategic direction of the Charity. They will foster an efficient and equitable working environment and assist in unlocking new avenues for growth. The successful candidate will provide specialist HR guidance to staff and volunteers and implement the best practices in Equality Diversity & Inclusion. Overseeing the People & Culture strategies, they will ensure the employee experience reflects OTR’s values and the recruitment process is fair and transparent. Furthermore, the Head of People will introduce an improved Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and recruitment applicant tracking system (ATS).

OTR Bristol seek an empathetic and responsive leader who can motivate and inspire others. They will have a background in HR, with experience managing complex employee relations issues. The successful candidate will be an expert on ED&I practices and knowledgeable about employment and data protection laws. They will have a track record of overseeing successful organisational change projects, including developing positive cultures and implementing influential strategies. A minimum CIPD Level 5 Human Resources Management qualification is required, alongside evidence of ongoing professional development. Candidates must be aligned with OTR’s values and committed to the mental health and well-being of young people.
