Julian House transforms the daily lives and futures of homeless and socially excluded individuals through high-quality housing and support services. This includes people who are recovering from addiction, adults and children escaping domestic abuse, refugees establishing new lives, prison leavers seeking a fresh start, and members of the Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, and Boater communities living insecurely.

Adopting a person-centred approach, Julian House provides tailored assistance to each indivudal in line with their unique needs and personal goals. Their passionate teams are focused on securing the best possible results for the people they support. The organisational vision is a society where anyone experiencing social exclusion is supported and empowered to build a sustainable, independent life.

With demand for their services at an all-time high, Julian House is committed to scaling its operations to reach as many vulnerable individuals as possible. They’re seeking ways to diversify their current services and deliver them in new locations throughout the South West. These strategic efforts will help the charity meet the changing needs of vulnerable people and ensure the organisation remains resilient amid an uncertain commissioning landscape.

To achieve these goals, Julian House is seeking a trustee who can help grow their fundraised and retail income. Trustees set the charity’s strategic direction and agree finaincal and business plans to support delivery. They scrutinise the organisation’s performance, conduct risk management assessments, and ensure resources are applied effectively in pursuit of charitable objectives.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of charity retail, most likely from having held senior leadership retail positions in charities. They will have excellent communication skills, coupled with the ability to persuade and influence effectively to promote the interests of Julian House. The trustee will be capable of formulating new ideas and challenging existing thinking. They will be committed to the charity’s mission and passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.
