The Role:

The Client:

MyProcurement is a start-up focused on increasing customers profits through cost reduction. In order to offer affordable supplier cost reduction programs to their customers, they are building a purchasing group for SMEs in the engineering sector.  

Considering the average manufacturing company has a 3rd party spend accounting for 68% of their turnover, cost reduction can bring a real advantage to the sector’s competitivity. As a result, a 3% supplier cost cutting exercise would represent an EBIT increase of 34%.

MyProcurement’s business model is: ‘no savings, no payment’ by identifying and delivering savings against their clients’ current spend. The model is working and Phillipe has been listed among the 35 under 35 entrepreneurs to look out for in Wales in 2020. They are in the process of building a procurement platform and automate their services in order to increase their customers’ Return on Investment.

The Challenge

Philippe Mele, Founder of MyProcurement and a connection of Moon Executive Search through the 2020 NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator programme, wanted to bring an experienced Non-Executive Director into the company to help streamline their processes and to help facilitate sustainable growth for the future.

Our Approach

Moon Executive Search is in contact with NEDs and advisors that specialise in FMCG and supply chain management. We reached out to our network and spoke with individuals that matched the brief about the opportunity.

After lengthy discussions with candidates, we introduced Phillippe to Jerry Marwood, a knowledgeable Non-Exec with a strong understanding of consumer trends, multichannel, international markets and, crucially, developing profit generative strategies in both B2B and B2C markets. Jerry spoke to Moon Executive Search earlier this year about the challenges the FMCG industry has faced, and overcome, during the pandemic.
