As a market leader in their field, they boast a proud reputation for driving sector growth through joint venture collaboration, establishing strategic international partnerships and via targeted acquisitions.

Our Challenge

Moon Executive Search was delighted to be approached to conduct a highly confidential campaign to identify a Head of New Business Sales to open up new commercial ventures in strategic markets.

Fundamental to the appointment was the need for prospective candidates to demonstrate an ability to capitalise on new opportunities through effective planning and coordination with cross-functional teams.

Our Approach

Given that the search was to be undertaken in strictest confidence, with prospective candidates signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at the outset, strategic information was released in three distinct stages – an initial top line brief to scope alignment on both sides, followed by the NDA and subsequent disclosure and finally the release of a detailed business plan for second interviews to allow candidates to prepare a strategy paper for the Board.

Furthermore, in preparing our work for this search, we sought to identify individuals with the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset

  • Goal, results and delivery focused

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • High personal integrity

  • Ability to support the development of a high performing team

  • Provide cohesive leadership approach to encourage collaboration

  • Experience of managing a P&L

The Solution

Following a set of panel interviews, our client was able to successfully appoint their candidate, having been impressed by the candidate’s presentation at final stage, where they spoke of their experience of developing a differentiation strategy in several relevant markets. This experience, coupled with their evidence of having developed lucrative and tangible commercial partnerships in previous positions, made them the standout candidate in the process.
