The Head of IT Services for a Global IT MSP asked Gemma Wilks at Moon Executive Search if she could assist them in securing a new Night Shift Team Leader, to lead their dedicated night support team, as they continue with their fully fledged 24 hour, 7 days a week and 365 days a year support offering to their clients.
The brief was that this would be an office based senior service desk role, where the appointed candidate would be responsible for both leading the dedicated night shift, as well as playing an integral part in providing a high-quality support service to customers throughout the UK.
For this role the candidate needed both an in-depth technical background, as well as the required leadership experience.
The Challenge
The main challenge with this role was trying to find not only the sound technical and leadership qualities, but also someone who would be able to sustain the working hours of a continual night shift pattern.
Our Approach
Gemma Wilks led this campaign with a methodical search process, targeting emerging markets, as well as running tailored ad campaigns. Our candidate conversations involved investigating technical skillset, evidence of aligned experience, and consideration of the cultural symmetry of the clients’ values.
The campaign took place in a highly competitive marketplace, with the ending of the pandemic, and candidate shortages, so Gemma and her team had extra pressure on sourcing candidates. However, Gemma’s mantra is about always giving the best support and service to her clients, so her tenacity paid off and she found the perfect person.
The appointed candidate had everything the client was looking for and has since settled in very well to their new role.
