for SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality)

 

Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI) supports victims of hate and promotes equality in Bristol’s communities. They aim to create inclusive communities where everyone feels welcome and valued, and a society where diversity is embraced as a source of strength and enrichment. The charity works towards the elimination of racism and inequality, promoting equal opportunities and advancing public education on the causes and effects of racism.  

The organisation’s mantra is All different, all equal. This principle shapes their collective identity and actions. It reflects their dedication to creating a world where differences are celebrated and equality is a reality for all.

We approached SARI directly with the opportunity to appoint a trustee. We were working with a talented candidate who was seeking a trustee role focused on community engagement and equality, diversity and inclusion. Vanessa Moon, our Founding Director, has a strong relationship with SARI’s leadership team, having supported SARI in their search for a Head of Finance, HR & Resources. Knowledgeable about SARI’s culture, objectives and long-term strategic plan, Vanessa thought our candidate would be an ideal fit – strongly aligned with their mission and with the skills to help achieve their goals. 

The candidate in question is Tanzil Ahmed. He is an experienced executive leader with a background driving widescale transformation projects. Tanzil brings expertise in governance, strategic oversight, stakeholder engagement, and community impact. He has extensive financial management skills, having overseen P&L campaigns of £1bn and £250m for Lloyds Pharmacy and Bupa Dental, respectively. Furthermore, Tanzil is passionate about diversity and inclusion and has led organisation-wide ED&I strategies at multiple global companies.  

Vanessa Moon, our Founding Director, approached SARI’s leadership team, explaining that one of our candidates was seeking a trustee role where they could advance community equality and inclusion. We provided a detailed breakdown on how Tanzil’s skills and experience could help SARI expand their impact and reach. They were impressed by Tanzil’s track record and interested in the value he could add to the organisation. We’re delighted that SARI agreed with Vanessa’s view. Following further discussions and an interview, Tanzil was appointed as a trustee.
