Bristol Museum Development Trust (BMDT) is an independent charity which raises funds for their visitor sites and museums, and their collections, which includes Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, M-Shed, The Georgian House Museum, The Red Lodge Museum, Blaise Museum and Bristol Archives.
The Campaign
We were instructed to source five new Trustees for the BMDT Board.
Expressions of Interest were sought from candidates who could exhibit a passion and vision for the heritage and culture of the City of Bristol.
Our Approach
Our search targeted candidates with backgrounds in arts & culture, community development and fundraising, who had demonstrable Director experience and who had worked for, or volunteered within, the charity sector or for membership-run organisations.
The Challenge
The main challenge was to ensure that prospective trustees had a genuine passion and interest in BMDT and its’ aims and that they were able to commit to the time requirements. Therefore, we agreed that the search should focus on candidates with a strong community reach, the ability to build positive relationships and the confidence to liaise with people at all levels of seniority.
The Solution
Our Charity Recruitment team managed the recruitment process from the outset, thoroughly screening candidates against the search criteria, and managing the client and candidate communication from reach out to offer stage.
The successful candidates bring a strong focus on community-led projects and bring with them a diverse range of strategic experience from private, public and charitable organisations. This will enable BDMT to expand their network and ensure that their operations are fully optimised to enhance stakeholder engagement.
