Their Mission is to expand the Charity’s reach and influence, shaping national policies that improve the quality of SEN provision across the UK. Sandy Hinks, Head of Moon’s Charity Practice, took the lead on this search campaign, with valuable support from Leighann Enable Trust were seeking Trustees with expertise in either project management, risk management, non-profit governance or organisational change and development. A challenging aspect of this campaign was finding experienced candidates who were able to commit enough time to a voluntary role. The search was led by Sandy Hinks, Head of Moon’s Charity Practice. We combined a targeted headhunting exercise with a bespoke advertising campaign to reach potential candidates. We were seeking candidates with a connection to South Gloucestershire or the surrounding areas, as these are the communities the Trust primarily engages with.

First, we screened the candidates based on their skills, experience and suitability for Enable Trust. Following this, Sandy Hinks met with the most promising individuals. Four candidates stood out among the pack, displaying the ability to support the Trust through their growth plans. Sandy recommended all four to Enable Trust for a final interview. Impressed by each of the candidates, the Trust appointed all of them to the Board of Trustees. The four Trustees who were placed were as follows:

Richard Cuttell, an experienced Chartered Surveyor with a background in new-build project management. While Mr Cuttell is a first-time Trustee, he has a track record of working with Charities through his Senior Business Advisor role at Pilotlight 360. Ross Barnes is a Senior Project Manager who works for the University of Bristol. He brings extensive experience working on project construction management within an educational or public sector setting. Furthermore, Mr Barnes has worked with multiple local authorities and has a valuable network of contacts.

Sarah Slade is a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager for a global construction and engineering company. Ms Slade has been involved in the construction of school sites in the UK, advising Boards on health and safety strategy and staff wellbeing matters. Her expertise in creating safe and supportive environments for all will be valuable to Enable Trust, as will her knowledge of risk management and legal compliance.
