  • Location: Taunton Hospice, Somerset.

  • Closing date: 10th August 2025.

St Margaret’s Hospice Care is a community-funded Charity in Somerset, supporting adults of all ages who face a life-limiting illness or require end-of-life care. They have been an integral part of the Somerset community for over four decades, providing compassionate and specialised palliative care, free of charge, to patients and their families when it matters most.

The organisation was founded on the belief that everyone within the Somerset community deserves tailored and dignified care so they can focus on living well until the end. To celebrate 45 years of dedicated service, they are embarking on a five-year strategic journey to meet evolving community needs and deliver the best standard of care possible. This strategy also aims to innovate how hospice care is funded and resourced, and ensure the organisation can support the community for the next 45 years and more. St Margaret's are seeking two Trustees who can help turn this strategy into reality.

Trustees are pivotal in ensuring the effective governance, long-term sustainability, and success of St Margaret’s mission. They are the custodians of the Charity's purpose, entrusted with safeguarding its assets, advancing its objectives, and ensuring its long-term viability. The Trustee roles involve legal duties, ethical obligations, and financial responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, including Charity laws and healthcare regulations.

The successful candidates will be strategic thinkers who can contribute to long-term planning. They will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, alongside the ability to challenge others constructively while maintaining positive relationships. You’ll be capable of independent judgment and objective decision-making, and have senior leadership experience, ideally as part of a Board. Furthermore, the Trustees will be knowledgeable about either fundraising, Charity/commercial retail or business development. You’ll have a strong sense of ethical responsibility and integrity, and be committed to supporting adults with life-limiting illnesses.
