Bath Welcomes Refugees is a small but impactful Charity dedicated to supporting refugees and asylum seekers to settle in Bath and the surrounding area. They provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support, working closely with local authorities, community organisations, and volunteers to create a welcoming environment. Their mission is to help refugees rebuild their lives with dignity, security, and opportunities to thrive within local communities.

With over 200 volunteers, the Charity supports refugees and asylum seekers from many countries, including Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Since 2015, they have helped over 800 people with resettlement support services, helping them build a successful, thriving life in the UK. The organisation is committed to raising awareness for the plight of refugees both in Bath and beyond. Their ‘Beyond Bath’ team focuses on the wider refugee situation, collaborating with partner organisations who regularly send donations and volunteers to Calais.

Bath Welcomes Refugees is on the cusp of change. They are looking to build on previous successes and ensure a sustainable future for the organisation. To achieve these goals, they’re seeking a Head of Charity who can provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and external representation.

As Head of Charity, you’ll work closely with Trustees, volunteer leads and the staff team to refine the organisational strategy. You will provide hands-on and forward-thinking leadership, ensuring Bath Welcomes Refugees’ services meet the needs of refugees and asylum seekers. Furthermore, you’ll develop sustainable fundraising strategies, securing income from grants, donations, and partnerships, and manage key external relationships, representing the Charity in local, regional and national forums.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, skilled in strategic planning, financial management and governance. They will have proven senior management experience within the Charity or non-profit sector, alongside a background developing partnerships with diverse stakeholders. The Head of Charity will have a strong understanding of impact measurement and knowledge of safeguarding policies and best practices. Above all, they will be passionate about refugee rights and the organisation’s values – compassion, empowerment, respect and inclusivity.
