(Closed) Amica Care seeks Chair of the Board

Closing date: Sunday 24th March

Amica Care specialise in providing exceptional care for older people. They run five nursing and residential care homes in the West & South West of England, alongside three independent living sites. The Charity offers a wide variety of supportive professional services, ranging from day-care and assisted living, to specialist dementia and end-of-life care. Their independent living sites provide a safe environment with excellent facilities, resulting in the perfect balance of independence, social interaction and community atmosphere - with easy access to specialist assistance if required.

The organisation proudly provides outstanding care and support to all their residents. They are committed to making sure each day is well-lived and enable residents to enjoy fulfilling lives - creating special memories with family and friends. They aspire to increase the number of homes and services to support more communities. They’re seeking a Chair of the Board of Trustees to ensure the Charity is managed effectively and continues to provide the highest possible standard of care for residents.

The Chair will efficiently moderate meetings of the Board of Trustees, bringing impartiality and objectivity to decision-making processes. They will ensure the Board operates within set charitable objectives, provides a clear strategic direction, and takes collective ownership of decisions. Furthermore, the successful candidate will make sure the Trustees are fully committed to the long-term interests of Amica Care, and hold the Executive Team accountable for delivering organisational objectives. Outside of Board meetings, the Chair will build a strong relationship with the Chief Executive, providing support and guidance when required. They will also act as an ambassador and spokesperson for the Charity, representing them at external functions, meetings and events.

They are hoping to hear from creative and strategic thinkers, with strong interpersonal skills and good judgement. The successful candidate will have experience at a senior leadership level, ideally working alongside or as part of a Board. They will be knowledgeable about charitable organisations' governance and financial management, and understand the responsibilities and liabilities of Trustees. A comprehension of the challenges and regulations faced in the care sector is also highly desirable. Moreover, the Chair must be committed to the values of Amica Care.

If you fit the above criteria - and are passionate about helping older people maintain independence, create special moments and live fulfilling lives - we’d love to hear from you.
