(Closed) Children’s Air Ambulance seeks 5 Board Members and a Chair of the Development Board

Children's Air Ambulance

The Children’s Air Ambulance is an inter-hospital transfer service flying critically ill babies and children between hospitals for specialist care. The service began in 2012, with one aircraft operating from Coventry Airport. In 2018 they expanded the fleet to two aircraft, which now run from London Oxford Airport and Retford (Gamston) Airport.

The Charity works with 11 NHS neonatal and paediatric retrieval teams across the UK, enabling them to bring specialist equipment onboard to safely transfer their patients. If a child is too unwell to fly, the Children’s Air Ambulance flies medical teams and bespoke equipment to them from across the UK, transforming their local hospital into a specialist medical centre. In 2023 the Children's Air Ambulance provided incubators to be used within the bespoke, clinical interiors of the aircraft, and in doing so offered a unique service to the NHS which has already been used on over 50 occasions.

The organisation is looking to further develop their unique life-saving service. They aspire to advance rapid response and critical care services and become recognised as the leading authority on pre-hospital emergency care and paediatric and neonatal transfer services.

The Children’s Air Ambulance receives no funding from the government or NHS, relying solely on charitable donations and income from their retail outlets. They aim to increase awareness, understanding and engagement for the Charity across the country, resulting in revenue growth and greater investment in the service.

They are seeking five Board members to join the Bristol Development Board, alongside a Chair of the Development Board. They’re building a diverse Board, including people from a range of backgrounds and professions, with differing life experiences.

The Board's purpose will be to assist the Children’s Air Ambulance in planning, implementation, and coordination of all fundraising activities and awareness opportunities in the Bristol area. Board Members will provide leadership, strategic direction, and commitment to the financial viability of the organisation in the Bristol region.
